I am extremely lucky to have been able to experience a semester abroad in my undergraduate education. It was something that I had always hoped to be able to do, and it was quite a process getting it all set up.
Initially, I thought that I could go with a program through the University. However, my opportunity only came after the COVID-19 pandemic. At this point, not many of the programs were back up, and there was no exchange opportunity available that fit what I wanted.
After a long search, I found the Institut supérieur d’électronique de Paris. This institute was perfect due to the fact that it has fairly open relations with many exchange programs and the courses taught there were all in English! Since they had no prior active agreement with Texas A&M, I would have to apply directly to the institute and if I got in then I would have to set everything up on my end. That process included getting ISEP itself accepted as a school that I could transfer credits from as well as getting all of the individual courses that I wanted to take approved. Basically ensuring that my education there would be equivalent to certain courses
In the end, I was able to study abroad in the Spring semester of my Junior year.
